Komiška sardine

Komiža is known for its love of sardines, which were a staple of the local fishermen’s diet. Komiža sardines are prepared in numerous ways, and the inhabitants of Komiža maintain the tradition of “brudet” made from sardines and other fish specialties. Komiža pogača is famous, a savory dish that is served as a brunch or snack. The basis of Komiža pogača is a leavened dough with tomatoes, onions and salted fish (sardines and anchovies).
